Mr. Case, an experienced attorney with more than 40 years of private practice in Connecticut, is the firm’s lead attorney in land-use, planning and zoning, wetlands appeals, tax appeals, municipal law, residential, commercial and 1031 exchange transactions.

 

Mr. Case graduated from Temple University Law School in 1974 following completion of his undergraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. From 1992 to 1995 he served as trial counsel to the City of Milford. During that period he defended decisions made by the City’s planning and zoning commission, zoning board of appeals, inland/wetland commission and board of tax review. From 2008 to 2009 he served as City Attorney for the City of Milford. In that capacity he oversaw all of the City’s municipal contracts, negotiations, labor relations and litigation matters. From 1993 to 2011, he served as Legislative Commissioner for the Connecticut State Legislature where he supervised the drafting of new state legislation.

 

As Legislative Commissioner he also served as special counsel in the investigation of the Office of Capitol Police. He is a former Connecticut State Senator and former Milford Alderman. As a State Senator, he served as the ranking member of the Real Estate and Insurance Committee and as a member of the Transportation Committee and the Program Review and Investigation Committee.

 

Mr. Case served as chairman of the Milford Superior Courthouse Building Committee, and was a member of the Board of Directors of Tower One East, Inc.  He is the Past President of Temple Emanuel of Greater New Haven, Inc., past President of the Milford Rotary Club and past Chairman of the Milford Council on Aging. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Beth-El Center Shelter.

 

Mr. Case has utilized his background in trial practice and knowledge of legislative policy to craft winning solutions for neighborhood groups in Clinton, Milford, West Haven, Norwalk, New Canaan, Greenwich and Bridgewater. He implemented a special tax district for a group of West Haven property owners that enabled them to obtain more than $2 million worth of financing from the State of Connecticut for the reconstruction of three dams.

 

Mr. Case has also been appointed by Probate Court as an Administrator of contested estates.

 

Mr. Case served on the Advisory Committee of Municipal Tax Appeals. In 1997, Chief Justice Callahan appointed him as an Attorney Trial Referee.
